Quotes

Keeping with the theme of my favorite films, I thought I would share with favorite movie quotes:

The Shawshank Redemption
"Get busy living, or get busy dying."
"Remember, Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."
"Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane."
"Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free."

Remember the titans
"Attitude reflects leadership, captain."
"This is where they fought the battle of Gettysburg. Fifty thousand men died right here on this field, fighting the same fight that we are still fighting among ourselves today. This green field right here, painted red, bubblin' with the blood of young boys. Smoke and hot lead pouring right through their bodies. Listen to their souls, men. I killed my brother with malice in my heart. Hatred destroyed my family. You listen, and you take a lesson from the dead. If we don't come together right now on this hallowed ground, we too will be destroyed, just like they were. I don't care if you like each other of not, but you will respect each other. And maybe... I don't know, maybe we'll learn to play this game like men. "
"You make sure they remember, FOREVER, the night they played the Titans! leave no doubt!"

Field Of Dreams
" Ray, people will come Ray. They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past"

"America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again."

"Once a place touches you like this, the wind nevers blows so cold again. You feel for it, like it was your child"

More to come

Scott pilgrim vs. the world

I am going to be going against the mainstream here but I didn't like Scott pilgrim vs. the world that much. Sure it's unique and sometimes funny but thats all it is. It is simply amusing.
I give it 2 stars.

Long time no see

So I haven't reviewed any films for awhile (I have only just realised I have a follower. YAY!) Here is a list of films I have seen in the past few months and my reviews:

Knight and day :2 and a half stars. Amusing but not anything great.

The Runaways: 2 stars. I found this film actually boring and alienating. It promised so much but failed to deliver. The elements where there, but it wasn't a well constructed film.

The A-Team: 3 stars. I liked this film, it is nothing ground breaking but there are some funny moments.

Exit Through the gift shop: 4 and a half stars. Banksy's doco on street art is highly recommended. I still can't figure is if the joke is on the audience.

Animal Kingdom: 4 and a half stars. Animal kingdom manages to disturb you whilst intrigue you. Which makes it so good.

City Island: 4 stars. A very funny underrated film, starring a huge cast. Though a found the character of Molly a bit annoying.

Letters to Juliet: 2 stars. Cliche and Aussie Chris Egan's English accent is not great.

The Concert: 3 and a half. A Russia and French film that is heartwarming. I really liked it. Though I think some things get abit lost in translation.

Date Night: 2 and a half. Not the the worst film, not the best. Just amusing.

Micmacs: 4 stars. A lovely french film having a go at weapon produces.

Welcome: 4 and a half stars. If this French film doesn't break your heart, then nothing will. Sadly it is the position asylum seekers faces in France.

The bounty hunter: 1 STAR. BORING!

The blind side: 3 stars. Sandra Bullock is great in this.

The Men that stare at goats: 3 stars. Apparently based on a true story, but it is highly amusing.

Crazy Heart: 3 stars. Very well shot. But I thought it lacked substance.

I will try to review more regularly from now on.

Julie and Julia

Julie and Julia
Directed by: Nora Ephron
Starring: Amy Adams, Meryl Streep.
My Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Hi Web,
Whilst this film has been out for some time now, I only went and saw it yesterday because I quite honestly expected it to be a film for 60 year old women like the 'Jane Austin Book club'( is that what its called?). But it was quite enjoyable. I was quite surprised also to see that the cinema (it was a very small cinema though) was full. I was also quite shocked that it was actually quite funny and amusing. I wouldn't say it is a classic but it by no means is a flop and in some surprising way it is almost inspirational. I would strongly file it under chick flick. I give it 3.5 out of 5.

New Moon

Hi Web,

Directed by: Chris Weitz
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Launter.
My Rating: 2 out of 5 stars.
Unlike "The Time Travellers Wife" I have read the Twilight books by Stephanie Meyer and you would have to be completely and utterly in love with the story of Edward and Bella to even find his film not cheesy. Whilst the 'Twi-Hards' are boosting its greatness, I found it extremely annoying and strange.Such as the 5 second pause that seem to happen every time Bella and Edward say something to each other. The most amusing thing about seeing this film wasn't even the movie, it was watching my male friend spend half the film with his head in his hands cringing. I would only recommend this film to the die-hard twilight fans and people who don't mind wasting there money to go watch a film were the biggest highlight is Taylor Launter shirtless.
Kirsten Stewart also stars (for lack of better word) in this film utilising her pout all through the film and I didn't find Robert Pattinsons to be that great either.

The time traveler's wife

Hi Web,
Review of: The Time Traveler's wife
Directed by: Robert Schwentke
My Rating: 1.5 out of five.

Having not read the novel that the book is based on, I am extremely confused as to what happens in the film. Sure the time traveling is easy enough to understand, yet there a multiples of him from different periods in time which makes the film very hard to follow. Yet it is a nice film if you stop trying to understand and just go with the film. Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams are both very good but unfortunately couldn't save the film.If you are a hopeless romantic you may like it but that about all I would recommend it to. I give it 1.5 of of 5.
